If you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, you may feel fearful and isolated. You are not alone, and AWC Centers (formerly Any Woman Can) are here to help.

AWC Centers offer free pregnancy testing and first trimester ultrasounds to help determine if your pregnancy is viable and to discuss your options.

We are not a mandatory reporter so your appointments will remain completely confidential. We also offer free counseling if you need a safe place to discuss anxiety, fear, depression or traumas.

Basic Information

Human Life Protection Act

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the Human Life Protection Act, HB 1280 (Trigger Law), went into effect. Abortion (medical/chemical & surgical) is now illegal in Texas unless necessary to save the life of the mother.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Statutory Definition of Illegal AbortionAbortion is prohibited, unless the pregnant woman has a life-threatening physical condition aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy that places her at risk of death or poses a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function.
Penalty for Unlawful AbortionFirst-degree felony (second-degree felony if the unborn child survives the abortion attempt)
Physician Licensing RequirementsLicensed physician
